U.S. visa assistance · Dubai

America startsbefore the interview.

A strong U.S. visa application is not one document. It is a sequence: the correct visa category, an accurate DS-160, fee payment, appointment strategy, document readiness and a clear interview.

B1/B2 Visitor Visa

For temporary tourism, family visits and many short business-trip purposes. Study, employment and other activities require different visa categories.

This page is intentionally different from a normal service page: it treats the U.S. process as a case file, because one error early in the sequence can affect everything that follows.

Purpose first.
Paperwork second.

The U.S. Department of State separates temporary travel by purpose. Choosing the right visa category before completing the DS-160 is one of the most important early decisions.

The U.S. visa sequence

The order matters.

A good file is built in the right order. Completing a DS-160 before understanding the visa category or application location can create avoidable correction work later.

The DS-160 is electronically submitted to the U.S. Department of State and used together with the interview to process a nonimmigrant visa application. The strongest preparation happens before you begin typing.

Preparation readiness

Your DS-160 starts before CEAC.

Use this checklist to see whether the information commonly needed for a DS-160 is organized. This is a preparation score only — not a visa eligibility score.

0/8
Start with your passport. Organize the core information first. Accurate and complete answers reduce avoidable corrections later.
Application ID: save it when you start. You need it to return to a partially completed application.
30-day window: CEAC allows you to return to a partially completed DS-160 within 30 days unless you save the application file for longer-term access.
English answers: official DS-160 answers are entered in English using English characters, except where the form specifically asks for a native-alphabet name.
Confirmation page: keep the barcode confirmation page after submission; you do not need to print the full application for the interview.

01 · AccuracyAnswer completely. The State Department warns that inaccurate or incomplete answers can require correction and may lead to rescheduling.
02 · SaveKeep the Application ID.It is the key used to retrieve a partially completed application and can also help retrieve a submitted confirmation page.
03 · PhotoCheck the upload result. If the confirmation page shows an “X” instead of the photo, official guidance says a compliant printed photo should be brought.
04 · ConfirmationKeep the barcode page. The confirmation page with the Application ID is required through the application process; the full DS-160 does not need to be printed.
The consistency matrix

One trip.
Three places it appears.

This is a practical preparation principle: the DS-160, supporting evidence and interview answers should describe the same genuine temporary trip. If the story changes between stages, the file becomes harder to explain.

01

DS-160 record

Purpose, dates, employment, travel history and other answers create the application record the officer sees.

02

Supporting evidence

Documents should support the relevant facts of the trip where evidence is requested or useful for the case.

03

Interview answers

The applicant should explain the temporary trip truthfully and consistently rather than trying to deliver a memorized script.

Djamel DXB preparation rule: organize the facts once, check them across the DS-160 and documents, then prepare to explain the same real trip clearly at interview.
Interview readiness

Documents matter. Consistency matters more.

For visitor visas, the Department of State explains that additional evidence may be requested to establish the purpose of the trip, intent to depart the United States after the visit and the ability to pay the costs of travel.

No script guarantees approval. The consular officer makes the decision under U.S. law. Interview preparation should focus on truthful, consistent and case-specific answers — not memorized promises.
PurposeWhy this trip?Be able to explain the temporary purpose clearly and consistently with the DS-160.
DepartureWhy will you return?Employment, home, family and other ties can help demonstrate temporary intent depending on the case.
CostsHow is the trip funded?Applicants may be asked to show their ability to cover travel costs, or evidence that another person will cover some or all costs.
Invitation lettersNot the deciding factor. The State Department says an invitation letter or Affidavit of Support is not required for a visitor visa and is not one of the deciding factors.
Applying from the UAE

Dubai changes the logistics.
Not the U.S. rules.

UAE residents need to plan the post, timing and proof of residence carefully. Appointment conditions are operational and can change, so we link directly to the official sources instead of hard-coding promises.

01

Apply where you are a national or resident

Current 2026 Department of State guidance says nonimmigrant applicants should schedule interviews in their country of nationality or residence. If applying based on residence, be prepared to demonstrate that residence.

Appointment timing changes

U.S. visa interview wait times vary by post, workload, season and visa category. The State Department updates its Global Visa Wait Times information monthly and may release additional slots.

Some renewals may qualify for interview waiver

Current rules allow limited interview-waiver eligibility for some B1/B2 renewals within 12 months of the prior visa’s expiration when all criteria are met. Consular officers can still require an interview.

U.S. visa FAQ

Important questions before you submit anything.

U.S. visa applications are fact-specific. These answers explain the process without pretending to predict a consular decision.

Is B1/B2 the right visa for tourism and family visits?−
B-2 or a combined B1/B2 visitor visa is generally used for temporary tourism, holidays and visits to family or friends. Business visitor activities can fall under B-1 or B1/B2. The actual category should match the travel purpose.
How much is the U.S. visitor visa application fee?+
The current State Department application processing fee for non-petition-based nonimmigrant categories such as B visitor visas is US$185. Fees can change, so confirm the current amount before payment.
Does everyone need an interview?+
Interviews are generally required, with limited exceptions. Current rules provide interview-waiver possibilities for some qualifying renewals, but a consular officer can still require an interview.
Can I apply for a U.S. visa in Dubai if I am not a UAE resident?+
Current 2026 Department of State guidance says nonimmigrant applicants should schedule in their country of nationality or residence, subject to designated-post rules. Applicants applying based on residence should be able to demonstrate that residence.
Do I need an invitation letter for a B1/B2 visitor visa?+
The Department of State says a letter of invitation or Affidavit of Support is not required to apply for a visitor visa and is not one of the factors used to decide whether to issue or refuse the visa.
Can Djamel DXB guarantee an earlier appointment or approval?+
No. Appointment availability is controlled by U.S. posts and changes over time, and visa approval is decided by a U.S. consular officer. Djamel DXB can assist with preparation, scheduling support and interview readiness.
